What it Looks Like my 255g jar has been opened and used? (Jar not available in NZ at present)
Due to the thickness of Waxelene the top will not settle like thinner products so the top is not always smooth. Our 255g jars are closed, capped and wrapped in bubble bags immediately upon filling. Then they are sent directly to you. The bubble bags would have to be completely compromised after they left our warehouse for someone to have tampered with the jars. If both bubble bags have clearly been cut open and unwrapped, then please let us know. A picture is always helpful for us to figure out what may have happened. Otherwise I assure you that your 9oz jar has not been tampered with.
What if I receive my product and the tube is clogged?
This happens every once in a while because Waxelene is all natural. We will be happy to send you a new tube. Please send a picture of the jar or tubes expiration date (bottom of jars, crimp area of tubes), your ship to name and address, and we will send you a replacement.
Why is my Waxelene grainy?
Waxelene should always be smooth, and never grainy. Waxelene can become grainy if it melts and rehardens. It has to get really hot (130 degrees F or more). We had a batch of Waxelene that was grainy over 2 years ago. If you have one of these jars it is probably past date by now too. We do have a satisfaction guarantee so please contact and explain your situation if you are unhappy with the quality of your Waxelene. The grains are just unprocessed beeswax so they are harmless, but not the product we intend for you to have. The grains will melt in your hands if you rub them together. Please send a picture of the jar or tubes expiration date (bottom of jars, crimp area of tubes), your ship to name and address, and we will send you a replacement.
Why does my Waxelene smell bad or rancid?
Waxelene is best when fresh. Waxelene is only freshness guaranteed for a year after opening. Oil going rancid is technically not harmful and happens to all oils over time. However, The smell is very unpleasant and we want you to experience the smell of fresh beeswax, ahh. Please send a picture of the jar or tubes expiration date (bottom of jars, crimp area of tubes), your ship to name and address, and we will send you a replacement.
Is Waxelene Gluten free?
Waxelene is made from 100% gluten free ingredients. Waxelene is made in a Gluten Free facility. We are in the process of getting Waxelene itself certified gluten free.
Why does my Waxelene vary in color and smell compared to my last purchase?
For the health of our customers and the environment we choose to use organic unbleached beeswax. Natural beeswax can vary considerably in color and smell. We go out of our way to find the best smelling beeswax available. Waxelene is sheer and we do not add perfumes, so it will go on clear and the smell will dissipate rapidly.
Where is the expiration / Best By date located?
The best by date is stamped on the bottom of the jars using the month and year (mo/yr). The date of manufacture is crimped into the closure of the tubes. We use the Julian date system on the tubes. The first 2 numbers are the year (18 for 2018). The next three numbers are the day of the year, January 1 is "1" February 1 is "32", etc. The best by date is 2 years from the manufacture date. It is important to note that the expiration date is also 12 months after opening the jar or tube.
What should I do if I get Waxelene on my clothes?
"There should be no permanent stains from Waxelene. The Marks are likely Waxelene that has saturated into the cloth and has not worked its way out yet. Waxelene is hydrophobic so like other oils and waxes it can be hard to get out. I have had luck removing Waxelene by soaking the fabric overnight in warm soapy water.
1. Use a natural dish soap as it is made for cutting oils.
2. Agitate the clothes as much as possible (idealy on a washboard). Agitate a little longer than normal because the Wax/oil combo is stuborn and will be slow to work its way out.
3. In the morning rinse thoroughly with warm water.
4. Repeat if necessary. Fabrics like cotton tend to absorb the Waxelene more than synthetics."
How should I store Waxelene?
Room temperature out of the sun is best. If the weather is excessively hot then you can keep it in the fridge. You can store Waxelene like you would most cooking oils.
Can I use Waxelene to lubricate a gasket?
Waxelene is great for this lubricating gaskets and does not break down the silicon or rubber. It will actually make the gaskets last longer.
Can I use Waxelene as a barrier before getting into water?
Waxelene is great to use as barrier before going in the pool, ocean, lake, etc. I personally use Waxelene for swimming and it lasts for at least 3 hours when I am surfing. There are no irritants, no petroleum, and it is aerated so it won't clog pores or harm reefs!
Can you put more Waxelene in the lip tubes?
Our Lip Tubes are double the size of standard lip balms. This is good for your pocketbook and the environment. We fill our tubes as full as possible. If we fill them any more then we are not able to close and crimp the tubes.
